When taking a marketing class last year, one of the requirements for the class was to go to the Partners in Business Seminars. At first I was not overly excited to go; however, after listening to some of the speakers, I started to enjoy myself.
I think as a young person, going through school, it is hard to picture myself graduating college, finding a job and starting "real life". As I would listen to the presentations I thought, "WOW! They are extremely successful and have done so many great and amazing things." I would have to constantly remind myself that they did not just end up in their current spot; they were once in my shoes. They were going to school, not exactly sure of what life would bring next, yet they persisted, worked hard, and made their life happen. Hard work will always pay off in the end. I need to figure out exactly what I want in life, set my goals high and do whatever it takes to accomplish them.
I think the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business has done a fantastic job at trying to have the students open their eyes and see the endless possibilities we have in the business world. I'm glad that the school constantly brings in guest speakers and holds the Partners in Business Seminars. These guests have helped me realize the potential I have to become a great business leader.

Professional Blogs and Business
Did you know that:
1. Nearly 1.5 new blog sites are created every second?
2. It took only 320 days for the blogosphere to grow from 35 to75 million blogs? (Mis 2200 USU, 2010)
Blogs have become one of the biggest ways to communicate. "Blogs are an excellent method to share a company's expertise, build additional web traffic and connect with potential customers."(Darrell Zahorksy, 2011) Blogs create an opportunity for consumers to have a personal connection with the company. The viewer has the ability to write comments or concerns about the company, and the company receives instant feedback; all while using a blog.
The company has an option to create a corporate or personal blog. a corporate blog is more formal in its looks and content, whereas the personal blog is less formal and can be more "fun". The blogs are created based on what the company most desires. They are a great way to get information about your company out on the web.
Blogs can also be very detrimental to a company. If mistakes are posted and people read the blog, often times the viewer's opinion about the company will go down. Once mistakes are posted, the company may start to get negative feedback on their blog, or viewers will post the negative comments on other blogs. Once a post attacking a company is made, millions can read it. Negative blog posts makes it hard for companies to build their reputation back up again.
Blogs; just as anything can be good or bad. They are a great tool, but the posts need to be read, and reread to ensure their is no grammatical or fatal errors that could be posted. Blogs are free advertising and can be very useful in the professional business world.

Starting Something New
It seems that change is something that people are very afraid of, yet change is life. Why are we so nervous to start something new when we know that change is bound to happen? President Roosevelt said "the only thing to fear is fear itself." Perhaps we are not afraid of the change itself; but more, we are afraid of the unknown and stepping into the dark. Even when people have a plan, there is never a time, or situation where some aspect of their life will be known. We should embrace the unknown! Life never turns out exactly how we plan and the "unknowns" are what keeps us on our toes and constantly looking for new opportunities. Without change and new things, life would be pretty boring! I'm ready for life are you?
